Who Wants 1 Million Points?

Via Mile Nerd, points.com is running a contest where one lucky receipent will win one million points in the program of their choice!

Yes, it is a longshot you will win but let’s daydream where one million points could take you. Let’s say you choose United miles. To give you an idea what you could burn one million miles on, you could use them for:

  • 4o Roundtrip Domestic Flights in the Continental US or
  • 8 Roundtrip Business Class Flights to Europe or
  • 10 Roundtrip First Class Flights to Hawaii or
  • 7 Roundtrip Business Class Flight to Australia

Link to signup for the contest is – HERE.

Good luck – you’ve got to be in it to win it!

*Note I do not receive anything if you enter the contest – I simply think for 10 seconds of work, its worth daydreaming where one million miles can take you*
**PointsCentric is on vacation, using his points and miles, without access to wifi and thus, cannot respond to emails or comments. Please enjoy this run of scheduled posts – I will respond to all email and approved comments upon my return. Thanks!**

Pay $10 to save 10% to 20% on a Virgin America Flight

Via Gilt, Virgin America is offering a pretty unique deal in that you can spend $10 to get a promo code that will allow you to take 20% off your next Virgin America flight! However, there are a few terms and conditions to the deal:

1) Travel must be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Saturdays for 20%. Otherwise the discount is 10%.

2) Travel must be between  May 9 – June 15, 2014 and September 3 – November 5, 2014.

3) Tickets must be purchased 14 days in advance.

4) Must purchase on Gilt by May 6th and redeem code by May 19th.

You’ll have to run the numbers to see if this is a good deal for you but if you’re based out of NY (as most of my readers are), flights to Vegas and the West Coast start at $324 roundtrip, so 20% off is $64.80. Minus the 10 bucks for the code and you come out $54.80 ahead!

Hopefully some of you can take advantage of this deal!

P.S. I know my recent posts have been more deal orientated and about free points & miles but don’t worry, I haven’t forgotten about Points & Miles 101 and some of the new features I plan on rolling out. Stay Tuned!

Note: Registration is limited to the first 15,000 people so I would do this ASAP!

Last Days for Free $45 Uber Credit and Free $50 LYFT Credit

UPDATE 6/21: The Uber offer is now for $30 off your first ride. Click on this link to sign up!

Two quick deals, related to free rides from two different, on demand car services.

I posted this last week but its the last days for a FREE $45 credit towards your first ride with Uber as long as you signup before 4/25. There are two quick steps to get $45 added to your Uber account (first time users only).

  1. You must sign up via a referral link to get the initial $20 credit. Please consider using my referral link here (I will also receive a $20 credit after your first ride).
  2. Once your account is setup, under Promotions, enter the code HIPMUNK. This will give you an additional $25 credit if you take a ride by 5/30. All together, that’s $45 in FREE Uber rides.

Similar to Uber, LYFT is an on-demand car service, that is slowly expanding across the US (thought not in NYC yet). You need to download their app from the Android or Apple store and signup for an account. After creating an account, enter the code SLICKDEALS for $50 in credits towards a free ride! It’s as simple as that!

Cheap Under $500 Flights to Israel! Will not last long!

Per Million Mile Secrets, there are flights from all over the US to Israel for under $500 round trip!

This is an outstanding deal as flights to Isarel are very expensive and rare to see under $1,000.

To book you need to use a European travel website called Wideroe. They are most likely not calculating taxes or fuel surcharges properly since these fares are not available elsewhere. They had a similar mistake in January I believe for flights to Italy that were pricing at $284 round trip!

Availability is best through June 2014 but keep looking and cheaper dates are scattered the rest of the year.
