Quick & Easy 500 Free Virgin Atlantic Miles!

Virgin Atlantic is offering 500 miles if you download their shopping tool bar in your internet browser. Instead of clogging your main internet browser, download this in another internet browser you don’t use (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome etc.)

The direct link is here. Please note it will ask you to log into your Virgin Atlantic account first and then re-click to download the toolbar. The terms do state they will remove the miles if you uninstall the toolbar hence my recommendation to not use your main internet browser.

Good Deal Alert: Flights to Europe from $426 – $481!!

There are some amazing airfares to Europe right now from the NY area starting at $426 to Norway, $481 to Denmark and higher for other locations. See this post from Just Another Points Traveller with more info on prices to other locations.

The flights are via Air Canada, United or Norwegian Air (depending on the route) valid for travel from October 26th – December 11th or December 25th – February, 2015. You might have to overnight in Toronto for the Denmark flights but you can also think of this as a way to fly to Toronto AND Denmark for just $481!!

The best deal here though is the non-stop United flights from Newark to Norway for only $426! If you interested in skiing, this is a great time to ski Norway – see below for an idea of availability.

The Blog is Back and Some Future Scheduling Updates

After a nice vacation in Hawaii, I’m eager to return this blog to a more regular posting schedule. It’s been almost two weeks since my last Points & Miles 101 post and I’m sure you’re yearning for more (unless my April Fools post held you over…like it did for some of my-coworkers.)

Some of the upcoming posts will focus on:

Points & Miles 101 – The next segment in this series is obtaining your credit score for free and I plan to follow it up with posts discussing more about points and miles themselves – (which kind of points and miles exist, are all points and miles equal, etc.) I will also provide you with some tools and instructions on how to get ready for that first credit card application.

Award Trip Breakdown – This is a new series I’m about to start that will discuss more in-depth on how I acquired points and miles for trips and then how I actually booked them. I already touch upon this in Where I’ve Traveled on Points & Miles but I want to provide a little more detail on how I earned the points & miles for a particular trip and how easy it can be for you to do the same.

Trip Reports & Reviews – I’m not 100% decided on this yet but I’m thinking about doing trip reports for any trip I used points and miles on. This will have nothing to do with points and miles but will instead showcase my opinions of the airlines, hotels, activities and restaurants I experienced. I don’t know if my readers will be interested in this but my thought process is if someone saw a more in-depth review of say the Andaz Maui, it might give you that extra boost to start focusing on booking your own vacation plans (and hopefully using points and miles to get there!)

BREAKING: 100k Signup Bonus for Chase Freedom!!

I just found this out (I actually just ran back from the pool to my room to post this) and I’m sure it won’t last long but Chase is offering a 100k signup bonus on the Chase Freedom if you spend $1,000 in 3 months. Make sure you read this whole post.

It’s a little tricky to get the offer to appear but per Flyertalk, do the following.

1. Open private or incognito window on Chrome or Firefox.
2. Google “Chase freedom 100k signup offer”
3. Now this is the tricky part, most people report it’s the third link on the search result that has a http://www.chase.com address. So it may not be the overall 3rd link.
4. Click through to the landing page until you see 100k offer in big bold letters.

All Quiet on the Western (Maui) Front…

Sorry for the lack of posts recently… Andrea and I are in Maui on our second honeymoon (or is it 6 month anniversary trip? – now that’s a #firstworldproblem) and I’m finding it tough to get any work done with how beautiful Maui is.

You’ll be glad to know I worked on a few posts on my way here on the 11 hour JFK-Honolulu non-stop flight (great flight by the way). Starting next week, I expect to have a more continuous posting schedule focusing on Points & Miles 101 and some other tidbits I find interesting.
