Free Two Day Weekend Car Rental from Avis with Avis First!

Last week I blogged about two elite status offers for car rental companies, Avis & National, that simply for signing up with a MasterCard, you could get elite status! Well one thing I overlooked was that when you register for Avis First with Avis, you get a FREE Two Day Weekend Car Rental simply for signing up!

Interestingly enough, the published benefits of being Avis First don’t list a free rental for signing up but when I got my confirmation email from Avis above, notifying me of my Avis First status, it included the perk of a free weekend rental! No previous rentals required! That email happened a few days ago but I waited to blog about until I received the coupon code and could test whether it works and it does.

I need to be in Phoenix the first weekend of November so I figured this would be an excellent time to use my free weekend car rental. Sure enough, I proceeded to make a reservation using my Wizard Number and the coupon code for the free rental and the rental priced out as FREE except for some mandatory state taxes and facility fees.

This is a FANTASTIC benefit and everyone should signup for Avis First if you haven’t already. Remember this offer is intended for World Elite MasterCard holders so I do wonder if you signup with any MasterCard whether you will get the free rental. It has been proven that signing up with any MasterCard (including debit cards) will get you the status (my friend showed me his account after doing this) but I’m not sure on the free rental. If you plan to signup now, try to use a World Elite MasterCard (like the Citi American Airlines Executive card).

50,000 United Miles + $50 Credit Signup Bonus on Chase United Explorer Visa

Every blogger in the blogosphere today promoted the new offer on the Chase United Explorer Visa of 50,000 miles if you spend $2,000 in 3 months on the credit card but they are NOT promoting the best current, public offer for this card.

What they failed to tell you is there is actually a better offer that in addition to the 50,000 bonus miles also includes a $50 statement credit with your first purchase! The annual fee is waived for the first year so for signing up you make $50 and you get 50,000 miles to use towards future travel. You should also add an authorized user for free to get an extra 5,000 miles. The link to signup for this card is HERE.

I’m hoping the big blogs in this hobby (The Points Guy, View From the Wing, One Mile At A Time, Million Mile Secrets etc..) simply weren’t aware of this offer and they will update their posts accordingly. If they do not, it tells you they are not looking out for their readership and are solely focused on making money by promoting credit card offers that are inferior to others. Since I do not have affiliate links, I can promise at PointsCentric I will always promote the best credit card offers to my readers.

To recap, if you are going to apply for this card, make sure you get the $50 statement credit as well. This is the highest recent offer on this card that I can remember so I do recommend signing up for it if you are looking for a new card.

I should add if you applied for this card in the past 90 days with the inferior offer I would secure message Chase and ask them to match you to this offer. They generally are very accommodating with this.

Amazing Deal Alert: $200 Roundtrip Flights NYC to St. Lucia!

I know I have a large NY based readership so I wanted to highlight this deal which I found from The Flight Deal.

You can fly from Newark to St. Lucia on US Airways for only $200 roundtrip and it’s available in the winter and early spring next year! This flight normally goes for at least double so this is quite the savings. It’s even better then the $300 flights to the Caribbean I highlighted months ago.

Amazing Deal Alert: $75-$90 Roundtrip Flights New York to Nantucket on JetBlue

JetBlue is at it again with another awesome fare this time from New York to Nantucket for $75-$90 roundtrip. It’s not quite as good as the $58 flights to Cape Cod a few weeks ago but still a great savings compared to the normal cost of these flights.

The promotion is for $90 roundtrip flights but if you plan to travel between 9/8 to 10/30 (but not between 10/10 to 10/14) you knock down the price to about $75 roundtrip if you use a 20% promo code for JetBlue which can be bought at Dunkin’ Donuts.

Availability is scattered so you might have to play around with a few dates until you can see a $90 fare. I had the most luck finding availability by avoiding a Friday or Saturday flight. Here is one example below that prices at $90 but if i had a 20% promo code, it would knock it down to about $75 (the 20% off is only on the fare but not the taxes). Good luck!
