June is Refer a Friend Month – Increased Signup Bonuses & Other Offers

It sure seems like June is the refer a friend month as several banks and other travel related companies have increased the signup bonuses on their credit cards or travel products! In all these cases below, an existing user can refer their friends to earn extra points or miles. So have your significant other, best friend, or family member refer you, so you are guaranteed to get the best offer possible but while also allowing the referrer to get a small bonus. If you need a referral for any of these products below, please contact me at ralph@pointscentric.com

1) Chase Sapphire Preferred – This is the best all around credit card in my opinion and it has a signup bonus of 40,000 points after spending $3,000 in 3 months. It earns 2x points on travel and dining expenses, has a 7% annual divided on all points earned and offers flexibility in its rewards as Chase Ultimate Rewards points transfer out to many different airlines and hotels including United, Southwest, Hyatt, Marriott etc. The annual fee of $95 is waived for the first year.

My referral link – HERE. This expires on June 20th.

2) Chase Freedom – This is an underrated card in the Chase Family that is currently offering an increased signup bonus of 22,500 points or $225 cash back after spending $500 in 3 months and adding an authorized user instead of the usual offer of $100 cash back. It has no annual fee so this is a keeper for life and is a good way to always maintain a strong relationship with Chase.  The strong suit of this card is it offers 5x points or 5% cash back on different categories each quarter which is unheard for a no annual fee card. Additionally, this card is marketed as a cash back card but if you have a Chase Sapphire Preferred or Ink Bold, you can actually turn the Freedom’s points into transferrable points instead of just cash back. This is a pretty powerful tool as the points are more valuable when transferred to airlines or hotels then just used for cash back.

My referral link – HERE. This expires on June 20th.

3) Starwood American Express – I’ve already detailed this offer in a prior post but it remains the highest offer ever for this credit card. Check out my previous post for more detailed information but the signup bonus is 30,000 points after spending $5,000 in 6 months. Please note the public offer does match this offer now.

My referral link – Please email me your email address and via Amex, they will send you the link for the offer. This expires on June 30th.

4) Southwest Frequent Flyer Account – The first non credit card on the list but as I’ve written before, you can earn 750 miles simply for signing up for a Southwest Frequent Flyer Account. If you’ve followed my advice at all, you probably already opened an account but if not, open one now for a free 750 points when referred by an existing user.

My referral link –  Please email me your email address and via Southwest, they will send you the link for the offer. This expires on June 15th.

5) Award Wallet – Another deal I’ve written about before as this is simply the best way to track your points and miles for free. I now can offer a free upgrade to an Award Wallet Plus account (usually $5+ for an upgraded account) using promo code ” free-rxlcee “. The upgraded account offers some higher level tracking and displays expiration dates for all your accounts.

My referral link – HERE. This does not currently expire but the free upgrade coupon is only valid for the first 9 users.

Deal Alert: Starwood American Express Card Signup Bonus Back Up to 30k!

Update: This is now available publicly instead of just refer a friend. However, I appreciate the support should you choose to apply via my referral.

The standard signup bonus on the Starwood American Express is 25,000 Starpoints  – 10,000 after 1st purchase and the remaining 15,000 if you spend $5,000 in 6 months. However, Starwood just raised the bonus to 30,000 Starpoints – 10,000 after 1st purchase and the remaining 20,000 if you spend $5,000 in 6 months. The reason I’m highlighting this deal is Starwood typically only increases the bonus once a year and it usually occurs in late August to September.

As I write this, the increased signup offer is only available through the refer a friend link on American Express. The general public offer on the Amex site still shows the 25,000 point offer – DO NOT APPLY FOR THE CARD THROUGH THAT LINK – You will not get the extra 5,000 points. Instead please email me (ralph@pointscentric.com) or leave a comment with your email and I can send you a link to get the better offer from American Express.

Starpoints are among the most valuable and versatile points out there as I highlighted yesterday here. Free nights at Starwood on the weekends start at just 2,000 (or 3,000 for the weekdays), so the extra 5,000 is worth at least one additional free night at lower level Starwood hotels. Or you transfer 20,000 Starpoints and received 25,000 airline miles in programs like American Airlines, Delta etc.. That would still leave you with enough points to book a few free rooms or at the very least, some cash and points rewards which is when you pay some of the rate with points and the rest with cash. For example, a Category 3 hotel is just 3,500 points + a $55 copay per night.

If you were thinking about applying for the Starwood Amex, now is the time to do it with the increased bonus.

* In the interest of full disclosure, I will receive 5,000 Starpoints for anyone that is approved via my link. As I noted, my link is better than the the standard offer. In the event Amex makes this a public offer, I will revise this post accordingly.
